Derelict Mining & Crafting Guide

Crafting and skill leveling are the backbone of Derelict progression. This guide details the fastest route from Bronze to Iron gear and beyond.

Skill System Overview

Derelict has 12 skills that level through use, similar to Skyrim. Key skills for crafting:

  • Mining ?Mine ore nodes. Level 15 unlocks Iron Ore
  • Crafting ?Smelt bars, forge items. Level 12 unlocks Iron Bars
  • Cooking ?Prepare meals at Cozy Campfire
  • Alchemy ?Brew potions at Cauldron

Your Insight level increases as your total skill levels grow, making you stronger overall.

Reaching Mining Level 15

  1. Mine every Copper and Bronze node near Gideon's Camp and Desolate Valley
  2. Sell excess Bronze bars for gold if inventory fills up
  3. Once Bronze nodes give diminishing returns, venture toward Feeding Ground
  4. Continue mining until you hit Level 15

Warning: Enemies at Feeding Ground are dangerous at low levels. Run past them and mine quickly. If you die, retrieve your souls at the death spot.

Reaching Crafting Level 12

  1. Smelt all mined ore into bars at the Furnace
  2. Craft Bronze items at the Anvil even if you do not need them ?crafting XP is the goal
  3. Sell Bronze bars and excess gear to NPCs for gold
  4. Repeat until Crafting Level 12

This grind takes time. Bring snacks. The payoff ?Iron weapons ?is worth it.

Iron Ore Locations

Feeding Ground is the primary Iron Ore location:

  1. From Gideon's Camp, take the upper path (4-5 minute walk)
  2. Enter the cave at Feeding Ground
  3. Iron ore nodes are inside ?mine them with Mining 15+
  4. Salt deposits are also here for cooking

Smelt Iron Ore into Iron Bars at the Furnace, then forge Iron Sword and Iron Armor at the Anvil. This is your biggest early-game power spike.

Bronze Economic Loop

While grinding, maintain this profitable loop:

  1. Mine Bronze/Copper ore ?Smelt to bars ?Craft items ?Sell to vendors
  2. Use gold to buy Rogue armor, potions, and arrows
  3. Reinvest in better ore nodes as Mining levels up

Never let inventory sit full. Always convert raw materials into bars or gear for XP and gold.
