Derelict Beginner Guide

When you first join Derelict, you see a character customization screen with your avatar in chains. Customize your appearance, then you spawn in Desolate Valley �?a grassy, rocky starting area.

There are no permanent class choices at creation. Your build is defined by which weapons you use and which skills you level. Start with whatever looks good; you will specialize naturally through play.

1. From Desolate Valley, follow the gravel path eastward
2. Pass the chickens (practice light attacks on them)
3. Arrive at Gideon's Camp in 2-3 minutes
4. Talk to Gideon the Blacksmith �?he gives your first quest
5. Collect 3 Logs from nearby trees and return them

You will pass Monte Sant'Angelo along the way. There is nothing important there during Alpha �?keep following the path.

During the log quest you learn basic gathering, inventory, and interaction mechanics.

Complete these quests at Gideon's Camp before exploring far:

1. Gideon's Log Quest �?Gather 3 logs (teaches gathering)
2. Percival's Pale Leather Quest �?Talk to Percival, then farm bandits

After Percival's quest, quest markers disappear for many tasks. Your next goal is gear upgrades through crafting and skill grinding.

Your fists deal almost no damage. Prioritize a Bronze Sword immediately:

1. Mine Copper/Bronze ore near Gideon's Camp to level Mining
2. Smelt ore into bars at the Furnace
3. Forged Bronze Sword at the Anvil
4. Head to The Den and kill bandits for Pale Leather
5. Craft basic Pale Leather armor or buy the Rogue Set from Gideon

The Rogue Set from Gideon makes grinding in The Den significantly easier. Save gold for it.

After Bronze gear, your mid-term goals are:

• Mining Level 15 �?Unlocks Iron Ore mining
• Crafting Level 12 �?Unlocks Iron Bar smelting
• Iron Sword + Iron Armor �?Major power spike
• First Boss �?Avarus Captain at Fort Hollow
